Special Sponsorship Opportunities

Adopt an Instrument!

Thanks to a new partnership between Mercury Baroque and Houston-based instrument maker Dorian Barnes, you can now become the adoptive parent of a Mercury Baroque violin.

In order to further enhance the sound of Mercury Baroque, the orchestra has embarked on a project that will give the ensemble a more homogeneous and unified sonic palate.  Working with Dorian Barnes, Artistic Director Antoine Plante and Concertmaster Jonathan Godfrey have created a unique prototype that is precisely attuned to the distinctive Mercury Baroque sound and sensibility. We will begin by commissioning violins, then violas, then cellos, to establish a family of instruments owned by Mercury Baroque for use at our concerts.

With Mercury’s musicians playing instruments which are all from the same maker, the sound produced by the orchestra will attain new heights.

You can help us welcome the new arrivals to the Mercury Baroque family by adopting an instrument.  By becoming a Violin Parent with a contribution of $11,000, you will receive the following benefits:

  • Acknowledgement of your contribution on the instrument itself, visible through one of the violin’s f-holes.
  • A private concert performed on the new violin by Concertmaster Jonathan Godfrey in your home.
  • Recognition in printed programs at Mercury Baroque concerts.

  • A visit with violin maker Dorian Barnes and a behind-the-scenes tour of his shop.
  • Regular updates on the making of the new violin complete with photos.

Other instrument adoption sponsorship opportunities are also available.  Please call Mercury Baroque at
